Prof. Elyes ZHIOUA

Elyes ZHIOUA, Sc.D., is Professor of Vector Ecology at the Institut Pasteur de Tunis and Director of the International Center of Research and Training of Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia.
He has more than 30 years field experience on tick, mosquito, sandflies vectors in Europe, in the US and in Africa. After studying the eco-epidemiology of Lyme disease in Europe and in North Africa, he also oversees the Tick-Research laboratory at the University of Rhode Island, USA including tick-related research on tick bio-control, ecology, biology and pathogen transmission.
For the last 20 years, his research in Tunisia is focused on the eco-epidemiology of leishmaniasis, vector-borne arbovirosis, and tick-borne diseases, transmission dynamics of pathogens, development of novel vector control approaches, and innovative integrated vector management strategies for vector-borne diseases control. Dr. ZHIOUA has a strong international network of collaborators. He has more than 60 publications (h-index 25). Dr. ZHIOUA teaches vector ecology and control of vector-borne diseases. His current research is supported by the US National Institutes of Health and the UK Wellcome Trust.
